Abstract: “The authors present the studies and results obtained after evaluating 730 cases of breast hypertrophy operated on between January 1995 and December 2001 at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital (HUPE). The patients and the surgical technique are analyzed in their most important details, highlighting the care required in preoperative clinical evaluations, well-conducted surgical and postoperative procedures, so that the results are satisfactory, obtaining breasts with a natural shape, maintenance of lactation function and areolomamillary sensitivity, with discreet or imperceptible scars.”

Abstract: “This study aims to demonstrate the efficacy of resection of the corrugator muscles of the eyebrow by transpalpebral approach for the treatment of glabellar wrinkles, using the procedure described by Knize4 (with modifications). The treatment was carried out on 23 patients at the Pedro Ernesto University Hospital of the State University of Rio de Janeiro, with a one-year post-surgical follow-up. This technique is based on resection of the lateral and medial portions of the corrugator muscles of the eyebrow, preserving a small intermediate portion. It has been used in isolation or in association with other facial procedures. Post-operatively, there was a total or partial absence of visible glabellar wrinkles in all cases. This technique replaces the use of botulinum toxin (which has a transient effect) and the coronal incision and videoendoscopic techniques, with numerous advantages, including: smaller surgery, lower complication rates than those described by Knize4 and faster recovery.”
